The triathlete from Castellón, Fernando Santander, made an indelible mark at the Ironman World Championship. With the backing of companies such as IoTsens, Santander competed at the highest level in Hawaii, achieving an impressive time of 8:38:43—the fastest ever recorded by a Spaniard in the age-group division of this demanding competition.
This remarkable performance earned him 11th place overall in the age-group category, which featured 2,400 participants from around the world. Additionally, he secured fifth place in his age category (35-39), claiming one of the prestigious Umeke trophies awarded to the top five athletes in each division.
“Returning to compete in Kona has been a dream come true, and achieving this result after two years of preparation is beyond words,” stated Santander. He also emphasized the critical role of corporate sponsorship in sports like IoTsens. “It is essential for the business sector to support athletics, as behind every achievement lies a collective effort and the backing that enables us to train under optimal conditions and deliver our very best,” the triathlete added.
This achievement further solidifies Santander’s illustrious career. With 17 years of experience in triathlon, he has consistently demonstrated his exceptional abilities in prior competitions. It also highlights the importance of strong support systems in empowering athletes to push their boundaries and achieve new milestones.
